Wipe Out Collection

This is the first record I ever bought with my own money. I’m pretty sure I got it at the local drug store where there was always a rack of cut-outs and cast-offs at my eye level. I was eleven years old. Clearly, with Green Onions by Booker T. and The M.G.’s AND Walk Don’t Run by the Ventures on the same LP, this one left a big impression on me. And then there’s Memphis and Tequila. And I still love Teen Beat.  The sleeve turned to dust long ago and fairly recently the vinyl broke into three pieces. But I can still hear the sound of this one. This record took me to another place and sometimes I think I’m still there. I’ve been thinking about it all morning as I get ready to head upstate with the PI Power Trio for our first gig west of the Hudson.
