Few composers mean as much to me as Duke Ellington. It still blows my mind that I get to work with a musician who was actually in the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Art Baron. Long before I ever met Art I got to see him play with the Ellington Orchestra when I was going to school in London. My copy of this LP says, Last Copy do not remove from studio. Oops…

This soundtrack was released in 1959, and it is culturally significant because it was one of the first films to rely so heavily on a jazz soundtrack.  Director Otto Preminger was the driving force behind the idea this Ellington soundtrack.
